Key Principles

Pupil Premium is additional funding given to schools to support pupils who receive free school meals (or who have received free school meals in the last 6 years), looked after children and those children whose parents serve in the armed forces. Each year, we report on how we have used the pupil premium funding and the impact it has had on pupil progress. Please find the strategy document below to see further information regarding the specific use of this funding.

Possible key barriers to these pupils may be:

Lower attainment
Lower attendance in school
Lack of participation in extra-curricular activities
Limited aspirations
Lower self-confidence and motivation
Reading levels below age-related expectations

Addressing individual needs

Specific interventions to address these gaps include:

Increasing students’ cultural capital and curiosity through engagement with extra-curricular activities and trips
Encouraging a thirst for learning through Independent Learning Opportunities
Mentoring schemes - using both internal and external support
Targeted intervention and study groups

Equality of Opportunity

This funding is used to ensure that all pupils, regardless of their background or financial situation, achieve the best quality of education and reach their full potential. This support includes, but is not limited to:

Subsidised school trips
Breakfast clubs
Additional tuition and intervention
Peripatetic music tuition
Subsidised revision materials
Support with uniform and equipment
