An exciting opportunity is available for a talented science teacher to join our large, vibrant, and established team working in the heart of Lancashire’s Ribble Valley. We are seeking a highly skilled scientist to join an enthusiastic and well motivated team of eleven specialist science teachers with a wide range of experience in delivering high quality education to pupils across the age and ability range.

As an all-through school for pupils aged 4 -16, there is an opportunity to learn about and perhaps even contribute to the primary science provision and help shape science across 5 key stages. Scientific enquiry is deeply embedded in our ethos and our annual science week is just one celebration of the joy and passion each and every member of our team has for the subject. This is a very supportive and high functioning department that looks forward to welcoming its newest member.

We have experienced considerable growth and enhancement of our site and facilities in recent years, including the refurbishment of our accommodation. The science department benefits from 10 beautifully furnished and well-equipped laboratories, two classrooms and two preparation rooms, all of which are fantastically resourced and supported by excellent EdTech.

An exciting opportunity is available to a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to become part of the Science Department leadership team. This role will involve supporting the Curriculum Area Leader in managing our forward-thinking, aspirational and well-resourced science curriculum area. Ribblesdale School’s science department is made up of eleven specialist science teachers with a wide range of experience in delivering high quality education to pupils across the age and ability range. The subject is taught in suited accommodation, some of which has been recently refurbished, and benefits from access to cutting edge educational technology.

As a Microsoft Showcase School, we utilise e-learning platforms and our expertise in technology to support our teaching. The Science Department is unapologetically ambitious; the team explores research to inform and expand our practice, using new ideas and strategies alongside well-established teaching and learning methodology. We want a leader who shares our innovative approach to teaching and learning and strives to achieve excellent results and maximise pupil progress. The opening of our first reception class in September 2023 heralded the start of a new era for the school as we became an all-through school, catering for pupils from the age of 4 to 16.

Technology is a popular and well supported subject at Ribblesdale. At KS3, our pupils study a range of subject specialisms to prepare them for the different pathways we offer at KS4: GCSE, NCFE and BTEC qualifications. The department boasts a strong team, with three technicians and five specialist teachers, including a Subject Lead for Hospitality and Catering, all with experience of delivering high quality education and achieving outstanding academic outcomes.

Significant investment has taken place over the past decade and the faculty boasts some of the best resources amongst schools across the region. We have a number of 3D printers, 2 laser cutters, 2 fully equipped workshops, a food technology room and a recently refurbished graphics / food demonstration room.

The curriculum area is committed to developing well rounded, creative designers and well-equipped practitioners. Pupils in our school experience a breadth of opportunity including rapid prototyping and 3D scanning, lasercutting, smart materials and the opportunity to take D&T beyond the walls of the classroom, whether that be through local competitions or collaborating with prestigious institutions and organisations!

Site Supervisor

Are you a highly responsible and reliable individual looking to make a difference in a school community? If so, this is a fantastic opportunity to become a key member of the support staff at Ribblesdale School, working in the heart of the Ribble Valley in Lancashire.

The successful candidate will be a proactive and positive person, who is approachable with a calm professional manner and the ability to communicate well. He or she will be able to plan and prioritise effectively, work as part of a dedicated team with minimal supervision.

We are seeking to appointment a hard-working, conscientious Site Supervisor to assist in maintaining and securing the school to a high standard. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running and maintenance of the school premises.

The postholder will work alongside the existing team to organise, maintain, paint and upgrade the premises including carrying out minor repairs and building/ground maintenance work.

This varied and wide-ranging role will present a range of interesting and exciting opportunities to develop skills and experience in estate management, include liaising with contractors, ensuring the security of the buildings, caretaking and cleaning work, contract and statutory compliance, Health & Safety, and facilitating community use. As such the role is suitable for aspirant candidates keen to embrace career development over time.

Skills and interest in gardening and maintaining the school’s sports facilities will be a distinct advantage, as will a willingness to be flexible with working hours to accommodate lettings.
