“Taste of Lancashire” night at Ribblesdale school.

On Thursday 21st May a year 10 Hospitality & Catering group hosted a Lancashire themed evening. The pupils devised their own three course menu making use of local produce as much as possible.

p1010622A special thanks to the following companies for supporting this event:

  • Dunbia for providing the steak for the marinated “Ribble Valley” steak and vegetable kebabs.
  • Gazegill Organics farm for the pork loin and for helping the pupils to make the Lamb and Rosemary sausages themselves at the farm.
  • Bashall Barn for helping the pupils to make the chocolate orange ice-cream cake at the Barn.
  • Leagrams for providing the cheeses used in some of the dishes.
  • Holly Cottage preserves for their wonderful Apple and Rosemary Chutney to compliment the meats.

The evening entertainment was rounded off with Phil Knight a traditional Lancashire Folk singer and story teller. A final “well done” goes to all the pupils who took part.

Visualize win East Lancashire Final

Ribblesdale’s Young Enterprise team Visualize have won the East Lancashire Final where they will now proceed to the North West Final.

This will take place at Aintree. They will compete against the winners from West Lancashire; Merseyside; Greater Manchester; Cumbria and Cheshire. This is the tenth time in twelve years that Ribblesdale has done this. Surely a remarkable achievement! We have produced a DVD promoting Ribble Valley tourism; a children’s height chart and a leavers’ book for year 11. We also won an award for the best business plan and final company report. Charlotte Child won the East Lancashire achiever of the year award and will now compete in the North West Final as well.
