Last year over 40,000 pupils took part in the Biology Challenge in the UK, and this year Ribblesdale will be involved. Classes in Year 9 will enter the Biology Challenge (run by the Royal Society of Biology). The challenge stimulates pupils’ curiosity for the natural world and encourages them to take an interest in biology outside of school. Questions will be set on the school curriculum, but the competition will also reward those pupil whose knowledge of the subject has been increased by reading books and magazines, watching natural history programmes, taking notice of the news media for items of biological interest, and are generally aware of our natural flora and fauna. The competition will be conducted in exam conditions on-line during science lessons in March.
