Christmas is upon us! Thank you for your continued support for Ribblesdale and I hope it has been a productive and exciting term for your child.  We really do have some incredible youngsters and they are an absolute credit to you.

We had a fabulous celebratory assembly at the end of last week for our Year 7 pupils with many parents and relatives invited to join in celebrating their amazing start to the school. The assembly was aptly named ‘The flying Start’.

At the end of this term, we shall be saying goodbye to two members of staff. Mr Phil Mousley who has been at the school since 2004. He is moving on to a new career in flying drones in Portugal, a very different world from that at Queens Road! He has been a fantastic teacher of technology and indeed leader of the department and will be missed by pupils and staff alike. As some of you will be aware Mrs Weisters, who was one of the Deputy Headteachers since early 2013, has had a career break this year and unfortunately will not be returning to the school. She has been an incredible colleague and has been fundamental in the school’s continued success. We wish her all the best and hope she also enjoys the next chapter of her life.

Because of Mrs Weisters resignation, Mrs Partington has been appointed as permanent Assistant Headteacher with the responsibility for teaching and learning. Additionally, three associate members of the Senior Leadership Team have been appointed. These are Mrs Taylor, Mr Small and Miss Woods. They will all continue with their current curriculum roles as well as specific responsibilities across the school.

Our new website should be live as this letter goes out to you and we are continuing to improve the INSIGHT portal with specific information for our parents.

Finally, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and a very restful break over the festive period. We look forward to welcoming pupils back on Monday 8th January 2018.

Yours sincerely

Stephen Cox
Headteacher
