A Trip to Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Yorkshire Sculpture Park

We were blessed with fabulous weather when we visited the Yorkshire Sculpture Park on Wednesday 15th June. The only one of its kind the Yorkshire Sculpture Park is an international centre for modern and contemporary art.

The purpose of the trip was to enhance pupils learning by giving them a unique experience at the outdoor sculpture park.

Barcelona Sports Fest

DSC01409

May 30th 2011, 62 pupils and 8 staff set off for a sports tour to the Costa Brava, Spain. We played football and netball teams from the UK and Spain over the course of a fun packed 4 days.

The pupils trained with top coaches every day and each of the 3 football teams had 2 matches and the netball ended in a tournament with 6 UK schools. Ribblesdale won all the football matches they played and the girls became tournament winners of the netball. The passion, dedication and effort our pupils displayed was some of the highest I have witnessed from a school group. My team and I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute spent with these talented youngsters and we would like to congratulate each one of them for their outstanding performance, effort and attitude which made this tour a great success.

Ribblesdale Pupils Dance in Hildesheim

Ribblesdale School has been involved with Comenius for over 3 years now. A selection of singers have already performed in the South of France and at the German Christmas Markets in Hildesheim but it was now the turn for Dance to appear as a focus in the project.

On Tuesday 1st February Miss Mason & Mrs Smith took Molly, Abigail, Lois & Emily a group of year 10 pupils to Hildesheim Germany to take part in Dance rehearsals. The pupils performed to Ellie Goulding’s ‘Your Song’ and opened Dire Straits ‘Walk of Life’ with an infectious Tap routine followed by routines from each country. Whilst there pupils had the opportunity to learn routines performed by all countries and sightsee around Hildesheim and Hannover. It was yet again a fantastic trip where the pupils were a real credit to Ribblesdale School.

This has been the final of many European trips during the Comenius project which has its final Concert in Clitheroe on Saturday July 2nd. Pupils from Spain, France and Germany will be joining a selection of pupils from Ribblesdale to sing and dance in the grand Finale which will be held at the Grand.

We are currently still looking for host families to help house the 110 foregin students during their 4 day visit in the summer. (29th June – 3rd July) If you are interested in being a host please do not hesitate to contact Miss Mason.
