A Trip to Yorkshire Sculpture Park
We were blessed with fabulous weather when we visited the Yorkshire Sculpture Park on Wednesday 15th June. The only one of its kind the Yorkshire Sculpture Park is an international centre for modern and contemporary art.
The purpose of the trip was to enhance pupils learning by giving them a unique experience at the outdoor sculpture park.
In the grounds of Bretton Hall they independently studied sculpture by Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Jaume Plensa and Peter Randall-Page to name but a few. Alongside the 500 acres of outdoor sculpture to explore there were also 5 indoor galleries for the pupils to view. The pupils were asked to give a detailed response to their favourite piece of sculpture in the form of a written description on the piece alongside a drawing.
