Ribblesdale Students Vote Results
On Thursday 6th May all Ribblesdale students were able to vote in the general election. The turnout was very high and the result is expected to be announced on Tuesday 11th May. We will upload our results onto the Google national database to see just who would have won the 11-16 vote.
And the results are in!!! Lewis Astin the returning officer annouced that there were 943 votes cast. 27 ballot papers were void.
Gordon Brown, Labour, 64 votes; David Cameron , Conservative, 398 votes; and Nick Clegg, Liberal Democrats, 454 votes, therefore the overall majority winner from the electorate at Ribblesdale High School is Nick Clegg with 48% of the vote! In theory, it would reflect the national vote in that it would be a hung parliament. Well done to everyone who voted.
